The Soul Collector is Back at It

Johnny Depp's wife, Vanessa, ain't too happy about his recent gig. He is now filming with none other than Angelina, Hollywood's most infamous home wrecker.

Word is, there are some steamy scenes in "The Tourist". Depp's girlfriend, wife, whatever she is, said something to the effect of, I don't want you working with that evil whore. The NY Post is reporting that a source "close to the project" said Depp is unable to get out of his contract now. Too bad.

I don't care how many children Devilina collects/helps. She is bad news. I think she would collect men too, if should get them to sign power of attorney papers.

2 out of 4 Ain't Bad

So I wasn't right with my Idol predictions.

The boys I got right. Jermaine and John are probably back home now making their weekend plans. have fun guys. I am sure the local ladies will be all over you. Enjoy your three months of fame.

I was dead wrong about the girls. I can't say I was sad to say bye to Chiclet Mouth, Haeley. The girl will bounce back. She's young.

Michelle was sort of a surprise. She is one of the prettier girls on the show, and her voice isn't all that bad. Usually the pretty girls do well. That said, she didn't really have a stage presence. There was no real spunk to her. She was a heck of a lot less annoying than Lacey though. Lacey has got to go.

8 girls, 8 guys next week.

AI - The Guys

I don't care much for the guys this year. They are boring. So writing this is painful. I have to go back and watch snippets of their crappy performances. Zzzzzz....

Aaron: He's a cutey. He should stick with country. B

Alex: Weird hair. I know the type though. He would totally hang out with my younger sister's crew, listen to records, and wear funky sneakers. Then they'd go to a park, take funny/artsy black and white pictures of each other, and download them on their MacBooks. He is super sweet. I thought he had the best performance this week though. A

Andrew: Butchered a song that is usually a crowd pleaser, and I don't think it's all that difficult to sing (if you can sing). D

Casey: Good looking guy and he usually picks great songs. Did not like his choice in song this week. He should know who his target audience is--females! And "I don't want to be blah, blah, blah..." ugh, I hate that song. It just isn't a song that's gonna win over the female fans. A-

Jermaine: Crappy. D-

John: I have no idea what this dude is all about. I think he can go back to Purple Haze, or whatever his group is called. D-

Lee: He sorta seems like a db. I could totally hear him say something like, hey, let's go buy some polo shirts and then drink beers on the dock all day with our cool sunglasses on. That said, he can sing and is marketable. I am sure he'll go far in the competition. A-

Michael: I think he looks really fat. Craig swears it's all muscle cause he's a personal trainer. If it's muscle, he must be juicing. He seems so sweet though. No roid rage. I am so confused. So I ponder these things, and don't really pay much attention to his performance. B+

Tim: He seems really marketable. The judges don't think he can sing though. His future on the show really depends on the strength of his grassroots campaign. B-

Todrick: What the heck kind of name is Todrick? Todd + Rick = Todrick? Crisis. He's just alright. C+

Jermaine and John are done. See ya later boyz!

AI - The Ladies

I have not been good about posting. I've actually been feeling a little under the weather. This is not uncommon after a trip to New Hampshire. I run around like a crazy lady and hang out with dogs--some of which I love, others... ehh. I am super duper allergic to them though. And if I don't eat allergy medicine like candy, I end up with a cold! Lovely! So worth it though. I had a ton of fun in New Hampshire.

Something else that is making me sick, American Idol. This season is horrible!!! I am so disappointed. I watch each week hoping and believing it will be better, and it's not.

Here's what I think:

Crystal B: Great singer, not American Idol material though. Let's face it, the Sheryl Crow trend was over 10 years ago. The most the AI franchise will get out of her are some crossover fans from Lilith Fair. A-

Didi: She's alright. Lean on Me though? Are you preparing yourself to sing at 8th grade graduations? B+

Haeley: I'm with Simon on this one. Close. your. mouth. All those teeth are frightening. That and your super giddy personality make me nervous. And you can't sing Miley? B-

Katelyn: The girl can sing anything. She should drop the dramatics though. Last night's song was so slow. A-

Katie: Little Katie. She is as cute as a button, isn't she? And she can sing! I would love to hear her sing Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Miley, maybe even Beyonce. I think what the judges need to tell her is, sing someone with a younger target audience, not just sing a song by younger artist. A-

Lacey: Oh my gosh. Horrible. Boring. Annoying. D-

Lilly: She looks like a Garbage Pail Kid. It looks as though she dyes her blonde hair gray. Weird. I hate her song choices. D

Michelle: Pretty girl. She can sing. B+

Paige: Kelly Clarkson, really? It wasn't convincing. You should have "walked away" from that song. B

Siobhan: She looks like any other girl on the street. Nothing about her excites me. B-

I think Lacey gets the boot tonight. Then it's a toss-up between Siobhan and Lilly.

Two Men, and a TV Show

I watch Martha Stewart's show and The View. I am not ashamed of it. I enjoy both shows. I learn something new on Martha's show and think she is hilarious. She and her guests drank throughout many of her holiday shows in December. I was like, hells yeah. I bake Christmas cookies and drink adult beverages. Great minds think alike!

The View can be a little annoying, I'll admit it. I really enjoy some of the guests though, and the celebrity gossip is fun.

Tomorrow you must record The View--two very attractive gentlemen, one show. Robert Pattinson and Mitt Romney will be appearing! That's right, tomorrow at 11am, on ABC. Record it. Set your dvr or tivo right now.

It's gonna be a heck of a lot of fun!

A Fun Project

Believe it or not, there was just as much snow at my sister's camp in Maine as there is in DC. This put a damper on our outdoor plans to snowshoe, sled, etc. We found other ways to keep ourselves busy though. A card game, that I swear my younger sister made up on the fly. Ha. And we made a craft!

We made herbal neck wraps. My older sister came up with the idea through an online search. It was a super easy craft, a lot of fun, and oh so useful! Cause when you are finished, you have a scented wrap you can throw in the microwave, and then wrap around your neck for your smelling and pain easing pleasure!

What you need:
a bag of rice
about a foot and half length of fleece, doubled that is about 4 inches wide
herbs and smelly things

Basically, the fleece has to be sewn into a tube. This tube will be filled with rice and whatever nice smelling thing you would like to add. I used cloves and scent rose hips. My nieces used teabags which they opened and sprinkled into the rice. Lavender would be a great fill as well.

So you will want to eye ball the length and the width of the material. You will need enough that the tube drapes around your neck.

Sew the tube inside out. Then turn right side in when you are left with two inch opening. Fill the tube with rice and smelly things. Don't overfill, or the tube won't contour to your neck.

Sew up the hole. Put your neck wrap in the microwave for a minute. Then sit back and relax!

THE Best Seasoning Mix

A lot of people claim that this or that mix is the best seasoning mix. Well, throw away your Mrs. Dash, cause I have searched high and low and I've tasted them all. This is by far the best mix out there.

Camp Mix is a blend of garlic, onion, black pepper, salt, white pepper, and celery salt. Sounds yummy, huh!?

My sister had the Original Camp Mix, at her camp in Maine. While the company is based in New Hampshire (woot, woot!), she buys the Camp Mix products at the Kittery Trading Post. You can visit their website to buy any of the Camp Mix blends and lots of other great products at www.kitterytradingpost.com.

I was told the KTP often has free shipping promos. So be sure to sign up for their mailing list!

Happy cooking!
