Believe it or not, there was just as much snow at my sister's camp in Maine as there is in DC. This put a damper on our outdoor plans to snowshoe, sled, etc. We found other ways to keep ourselves busy though. A card game, that I swear my younger sister made up on the fly. Ha. And we made a craft!
We made herbal neck wraps. My older sister came up with the idea through an online search. It was a super easy craft, a lot of fun, and oh so useful! Cause when you are finished, you have a scented wrap you can throw in the microwave, and then wrap around your neck for your smelling and pain easing pleasure!
What you need:
a bag of rice
about a foot and half length of fleece, doubled that is about 4 inches wide
herbs and smelly things
Basically, the fleece has to be sewn into a tube. This tube will be filled with rice and whatever nice smelling thing you would like to add. I used cloves and scent rose hips. My nieces used teabags which they opened and sprinkled into the rice. Lavender would be a great fill as well.
So you will want to eye ball the length and the width of the material. You will need enough that the tube drapes around your neck.
Sew the tube inside out. Then turn right side in when you are left with two inch opening. Fill the tube with rice and smelly things. Don't overfill, or the tube won't contour to your neck.
Sew up the hole. Put your neck wrap in the microwave for a minute. Then sit back and relax!
