Two Games, Two Losses

I promise to keep these posts short. Cause let's face it, not everyone likes baseball and not everyone likes the Nationals.

Saturday night's game against the Sox was a whole lot of fun. We went with friends from New Hampshire, and sat in the club level. The seats there are soft and the fans are well behaved. And you all (should) know, the Sox won (1-6). A little early treat from the Easter Bunny to Sox Nation. Yeah!!

Today was Opening Day. We played the Phillies (1-11). They are by far the team I despise the most. Yes, I hate the Yankees, but I don't have to deal with them, or smell, them as much as the Phatties. The fans are just plain awful. Most of them don't even watch the game. They are drunk before the game even starts. Oh, and the best part, cause they won today's game, they assume they're winning the World Series.

I have no idea how the team is going to pull out 60 wins. It may be a very long summer.

A Chuckle at My Husband's Expense

Today is like Christmas for Craig. Tonight after work he's getting together with some friends for their annual Nationals season ticket draw.

Each year he rounds up a few friends and they go in on season tickets for (the worst baseball team ever) the Washington Nationals. The seats aren't half bad. We sit right behind home plate. The team is real bad though. And each year I am promised they will be better than the year before. Cause how much worse can they get?

Anyway, Craig really likes going to games. He REALLY likes going to games. So today is like Christmas to him, and he takes the whole division of tickets pretty seriously. For instance, he has been taking the metro to work. Today he thought it best to drive though. You know, because he had the box of season tickets. Also, he has thought about what he will be eating tonight during the draw--either Potbelly or Chop't. He never puts that much thought behind a meal. Never.

This is real serious stuff though. Tonight will determine how we spend the ENTIRE summer.

I really can't complain though, not this year. You see, last year we had tickets to every, single, home game. We didn't go to them all. We sold or gave away some of the tickets. Even then, we saw a whole lot of the Nationals playing really bad baseball. This year we cut down on the number of seats, so we'll have half the tickets.

Another reason I can't complain, we got great tickets to see the Sox last year, and we have great tickets to see them play the Nats this weekend. One of the advantages of being a season ticket owner is that you get first dibs on tickets to games before they go on sale to the general public. (Btw, when the Sox were in town, the stadium broke it's record for number of attendees. More people came to see a team from a different league than went to the Opening Day at the new stadium in 2008. How sad is that?)

I am sure I will have a number of stories to tell you from all our trips to Nationals Park. So I think this calls for a new label to be added to New Hampshire Avenue. I'll call it "60 Games". They won 59 games last season. I don't think it's too far fetched to think that maybe (just maybe) they can win 60 this season.
