The other day we saw a house on Constitution Avenue. The house has two units. The main part of the house has three bedrooms and a bath and half. The basement is a one bedroom rental unit. I don't really want a rental unit, but whatever. I'll look at houses with rental units in hopes that we can easily make the house into one unit.
The rental unit was the least of my worries after seeing the main house. The kitchen was teeny tiny. One, maybe two people could work in the kitchen. It was horrible. (The picture to the right somewhat resembles the kitchen we saw. The picture is probably nicer though.)
The full bath needs to be completely redone. The tiles were old. The vanity looked like the cheapest thing you could buy at Home Depot. And the shower had crazy looking glass doors with some kind of bath fitter unit.
To top it off, it doesn't have a washer and dryer. It has a washer/dryer. Huh??? Yup, one machine that performs the duties of both a washer and dryer. And there was no way you could fit conventional units. Next!
Today we saw a two-bedroom with a basement. I wasn't too excited about the address, but thought I'd give it a chance. The location did suck though. I'm not really into areas that are gentrifying. The definition of gentrify: an unsafe area that may or may not be safe in 10 years. It's certainly a gamble. I'm not willing to gamble with my safety, nor do I want to spend all day indoors. And I don't think nunchucks or a Chinese throwing star would really go with summer wardrobe. Maybe my winter, but certainly not my summer.
